The detective wants to know what happened to Saskia, as if I could just skip to the ending and all would be well. But stories begin at the beginning and some secrets have to be earned.

At Novaks prodding, Angela tells a story going back ten years, explaining how she met and fell in love with her high school friend HP. But as her past unfolds, she reveals a disconcerting love triangle and a dark, tangled web of betrayals. Is Angela a scorned ex-lover with criminal intent? Or a pawn in someone elses revenge scheme? Who is she protecting? And why?
Twisty and suspenseful, Our Little Secret is an intense cat-and-mouse game and a riveting thriller about the lies we tell othersand ourselves.

This book was compelling well written read , but unbelievable. Do I think there are sociopaths yes, but I do not under any circumstance buy that a husband and wife would invite the husbands ex girlfriend to move in with them and I believe it even less likely that they would lay nice or make nice after certain events. The beginning of the book pulls you in , but the ending is just weird. I think it might have been better to have a chapter at the end that is told by H.P. rather than Angela (a.k.a. Little John) because I feel like Angela is so unreliable that I am not sure if any of the book is credible anymore. That being said, I still enjoyed the book and would definitely read another fr4om this author, especially as she is just honing her craft.Product details

Our Little Secret Roz Nay 9781501142802 Books Reviews
I’m usually pretty good at figuring out who done it but this one stumped me . Love that it’s told in the last sentence in the book. You can tackle this book in a weekend. Enjoy!
I’ve never written a review before and I hate to have it be negative, but, wow. The reviews of this book stated it was similar to Gone Girl and a couple other that I had read, and I have to say I LOVE to be shocked. I’ve read the last 20 pages three times to see what I missed. I still can’t see it. This reads like a young adult coming of age novel (albeit with a dark twist). I would definitely not recommend paying full price.
I read this in one sitting, because it was that absorbing. I’m still thinking about it a day later. I honestly loved everything about it, except for the characters who spoke in exaggerated British and American accents - it was kind of hard to suspend disbelief at the way they talked.
This review contains spoilers....
It had the potential to be a great book but it falls short. I liked the beginning with the interrogation of Angela and her story in the beginning. It seemed very real and very sweet, how she met HP and how their relationship developed. But after that the story goes from sweet to crazy. Angela and HP are friends forever and then a couple and it seems like a great relationship until he visits her in college. This is where it gets strange. First he brings Ezra? Then he barely spends time with her after not seeing her in months and immediately latches on to Saskia? I questioned if they were really a couple or if it was in Angela's head since she doesn't seem to be a very stable person, but they had to be close for him to go that far to see her. And HP and Saskia ask her to be in their lives? Asking her to be the godmother and having her babysit and then live with them?? His ex girlfriend who is clearly still in love with him??? Who would really do that? I did not think the ending was a shock at all. Like I said the potential was there it just fell short...the story just moved too fast and was too unbelievable. But it was well written and obviously still has me thinking about it enough to write the review )
I never expected the ending to be what it was......This book is all about peeling layers back until you get to the very core of the truth....I read this book in one sitting.....Excellent read!
Spoilers The first 80% of the book was quite good and well-written (even though Angela living with HP and Saskia and caring for Olive was a *massive* stretch). But so much of the book made little sense (the relationship with Freddy, for example), I figured our unreliable narrator was already in prison or a psychiatric facility. The wrap-up was not well executed. Had LJ been mentally ill since childhood? Were the "spiders" there all along? Had she been violent in any other way? Did she have a real romance with HP? I can handle a fair amount of ambiguity, but the end felt rushed and like the author couldn't craft a twist so she just ended the novel. This is not a crime novel (even tho there is a crime) and there's zero suspense. I'd prefer to give it 3.5 stars. P.S. Many of the 5-star reviews are from people who rec'd free advance copies.
4.25 -4.5 Stars
I wasn't planning on leaving a review and only because I haven't been in a review writing mood lately but since I can't stop thinking about this one, I thought I should say a few quick words.
For a debut novel, and a short story, this was definitely worth reading! I say that because any book that leaves me thinking about it and questioning things long after I finished, means it obviously left some kind of impression on me. Albeit some of the story was a little frustrating, almost angsty (which I'm not much a fan of anymore), but as it continues that feeling settles and things start shifting and I saw what was really going on...or did I?! As I said this was a short story, quick read, so I feel it could have had a little more meat to it but then if it did, would it have left me questioning things? And I have to say I love when a thriller/mystery leaves me in that state of mind, it makes it that much more interesting and irresistible.
I was back and forth how I was going to rate this one but no matter it was going to be a high 3.5 to 4 stars but as I sit here and continue to think about the book I can't help but give it more stars. I am looking forward to see what other stories this author gifts us with.
